The Jeep G.C. has a sealed fuel door with a bulb gasket and lock to keep the door closed, while the Ram pick-ups do not. Wopms you could pick up the plug from the dealer if you think it's needed. Would bet they might even give it to you free if you complained about it. Are you seeing any signs of dirt or water inside the fuel door area?
As far as the DEF tank I have not heard of any issues of it falling off or getting ripped off or anything else. I test drove a G.C. diesel for three days and didn't notice the tank being exposed. Look at the GM/Chevy trucks. Their tank is visible and extends below the truck. I must not be the norm as I would not take my $48,000/57,000 vehicle off road. I know their are people that will and do but I don't have that much expendable income :W

No, I am not seeing any signs of moisture or dirt so the sealed fuel door must be doing its job. As far as the def problems, go to any Jeep forum. It is not offroading that is a problem but like I said driving in heavy snow or slush, driving through water that is pooling on the highway because of heavy rain and driving on gravel roads which is common for owners who live in rural areas. It is not the tank that is exposed but the def line from the def injection system that is unprotected.
