I have to say I have NEVER considered a Chrysler product. Guess I have been a Ford loyalist most of my life until my last purchase which was my first import. I am soon going to be in the market for a new 1/2 ton truck and cannot wait for the ecodiesel to be released! It will (I hope) be a perfect fit for me. My Family and I are in the car more than most with where we live in relation to.... well anything.
My current vehicle has been driven an average of 23,000 miles per year. If I continue with that average and purchased an Ecoboost getting approximately 18 mpg average (a friend of mine has one and that is what he is getting) then that is an annual cost of $4331.67 in fuel at todays prices.
Now using the same mileage with an Ecodiesel guessing it will get 26mpg as they have said it will be class leading fuel economy so I gave it 1mpg. That gives it an annual fuel cost of $3264.17 even with the more expensive diesel fuel. That's an annual savings of $1067.50.
I figured in the additional cost of the Ecodiesel over the Ecoboost to be $1750.00 as both are premium engines and both cost over and above the V8 alternative. Which means in less than two years the e
Ecodiesel is saving me money. I figure over a 5yr period it will save $3587.50. Averaged out that is an annual savings of $717.50. Sounds good to me, and the additional towing power over the current TV is a super bonus!!
Assuming your math is correct your post makes TOO MUCH SENSE!:)
