Ram 1500 with 3.0 diesel
Continuing my research for a possible new(er) TV. Anyone own/towing with the Ram 1500 with the 3.0 diesel? Might be to small for my towing needs, but something to think about. Thanks,

According to FLT this was the best of the best for towing. Even a 4x2 to keep the weight down so they can have an even better advantage in the towing game.
So if you think this truck overheated and pulled fuel a few minutes into the test with snow all over the ground, what do you think it's going to do pulling Davis Dam in 105 degree weather with a tall wall trailer on the back?
Don't you think the FLT gang would say: "hey, this things getting hot, lookie that temp gauge go up" if it was getting hot? They have before; but for some reason they didn't this time?
Think about it. Snow all over the ground, probably in the 40's or 50's temp wise and you think this truck overheated and pulled fuel? Really? If true; how on earth is this pickup ever going to pass SAE J2807 testing if it ever comes down to testing this truck?
I never said or even felt under 55 MPH was "unacceptable for this load." It is what it is.
This engine puts out 240 HP and gives outstanding fuel economy at this HP setting. 240HP is not much HP now days. Even a little N/A 6 cylinder gasoline engine can put out more than that at sea level. Even you must not think it's enough HP or you wouldn't have tuned your truck.
I'm just keeping it real. Again; this truck puts out only 240 HP and returns outstanding fuel economy doing so. Let not say things like an Ecodiesel will out tow an Ecoboost up a hill like another poster said. We both know that won't happen. At least we should. Just look at the stats.
Lets also not make excuses like this engine overheated in the snow and pulled fuel. We both know that didn't happen. Or at least we should.
This is a really nice truck for what it is. There is no reason to exaggerate it's abilities or make excuses for it.
