If your commute is not flat then don't worry about the cylinder deactivation because it wont come on unless you are going down hill. The cylinder deactivation on mine with 4.10's does come on a little less than my 2012 half ton with 3.55's. It seems to kick out of it easier too. Mine is not a daily driver and I often go 2 weeks with out driving it. When I do it is usually a 10 mile hwy trip followed by 3 or 4 miles town driving then back home. The hwy drive is about 6 miles flat and 4 miles hilly. Unloaded straight hwy drive 90 miles with no wind I average 18-18.5 I think if you drive a lot of hwy (30 miles plus) unloaded the 3.73 will save fuel. Compared to the Ford and GM I think the cylinder deactivation would only save you fuel if you did a lot of unloaded hwy driving also. But If you drive like I do, I don't think it would make much difference. That said I had a very hard time finding the right truck with 4.10's. If you order one that wouldn't be an issue.
