While I am not fond of any V configured diesels and certainly not a huge fan of the CP4 powered 5.0L, I don't think Cummins missed the mark with this engine. The main reason Cummins built this engine was to fit in medium duty cab over trucks, and the pickup variant was just a after thought. This engine has become very popular in the medium duty cab over market since it is the biggest and most powerful offered in that type of truck.
