Your comments regarding grocery getting and infrequent towing are trolling at most and most likely stem from ignorance - the truck in question is a very capable towing platform both at the weight the OP is towing and the weight I'm towing. You had some valid points which were diminished by these comments.
If you noticed I said if I wanted something for grocery getting I would look at the 6.4. Granted, some tow with it and like it. I get that. The problem with the diesel in the grocery getting mode is the after exhaust treatment. The new diesels just don't like short trips where the engine does not work hard, does not really warm up, and when it is started and shut down frequently. For those short trips the gas engine for me would be a better choice.
If you like some of my valid points that is fine, if not that is OK with me too. I live at 5000 feet and everywhere I go is mountains. So, for where we live being able to power up a hill eight miles long and six percent grade with ease, half throttle, no excessive shifting, and relatively low rpms, while towing is huge. And so is going down the same hills without using the service brakes all the time. Maybe that is why diesels are so popular in our part of the country.
