Only been to Egypt, Kenya and Tanzania but didn't see a single Land Rover driving all over heck and back on a few trips.
It was mostly AWD Toyota Minivans (probably 2/3) and heavily modified Toyota Land Cruisers out in the national parks...and the drivers all felt the Minivans were better off road vehicles (yes, we did some heavy duty off road work with them).
In the cities and built up areas, it's just normal cars like you would see anywhere else in the world.
