I just bought a 2012 Ram 2500 CTD and pulled my new Springdale 293rkssr 400 miles. The trailer actually pulled very good. My wife drove behind me and said the trailer did not sway. My issue is the truck came with Nitto trail grappler mud tire. The thread is way too flexible and the truck wanders all over the road, almost scary to a point. I need to swap out tires and though I would pick the minds of those here. Stock tires are an option but I would like an all terrain tread if there is one that suits pulling.

All terrain tires usually squirm when new and the only real advantage is on snow. If you don't intend to tow/drive on fresh snow, most any highway tire will work just fine.

I will mostly be on highways but the winters can get slick here. Maybe two sets of tires are called for, one for towing and one for daily driving. I had all four tires at 70 psi. The sidewalls call for 80 psi max.

I'd take it to a well known front end shop 1st to check the camber etc. Nitto's are nice for winter but they will burn out pretty fast in summer heat while towing.

I have Toyo AT's and they're great for everything. Except towing is ripping the hide off them. :(

If it has a leveling kit on it then your front fenderwell will be about the same distance off of the ground as your rear. Stock, the rear is 2-2 1/2" higher than the front.;)

I have Nitto Terra Grapplers on my Chevy. I know it's a different truck and tire tread but when they're new they are squirmy and seem to wander for like the 1st 500 miles. Then after that they're just fine, it's done that on every set I've owned. It's bad enough that my wife notices it, and she can tell when it went away.

I would figure out what was on your truck, before I threw money at wheels and tires...because it may not be a tire issue at all.

They are E rated. I honestly don't know if any other mods have been performed to the truck. Driving without the trailer, everything seems fine. I may just go ahead and get a new set of wheels and tires and switch them when I tow, which isn't often. Ill take it to a shop later this week to have the front end checked out.

My BIL is running Nitro Trail Grapplers on his F350 with no concerns. Like has been suggested, maybe your suspension has been altered. Does it only handle poorly while towing?

What size Trail Grapplers? I had 295/70R18's and loved them for towing. Something may be wrong with the front end. I kept mine aired up to 80 psi no matter what.

You bought the truck with MT tires on it, check to see if it has a leveling kit on it also. If it has a leveling kit installed and has not been realigned then it will drive funny because of the caster change.
