Ram 2500 vs Ram 3500
Per this article, the only difference between a 3/4T and a 1T is the coil springs vs leaf springs. Everything else is the same. I have the same truck as you. While I haven't got a new trailer yet, I feel like I'd be comfortable being 500-750 lbs over for as seldom as I get to go. If I need airbags or whatever, then so be it.
I am not anything close to an automotive engineer or even a mechanic....
But I have owned and towed with both Ram 2500 & 3500's and I find this a little hard to believe. The 3500's have been significantly more comfortable to tow or haul with.
Just my $0.02 :)
I believe that article is referring to newer 2014+ 2500/3500 trucks. In that case, it is true that there is not much difference between them.
There is also the factor of each brand as well. My brother had a 2012 F350 PSD and traded it in for a 2014 Ram 2500 CTD. He has stated many times that he feels more comfortable towing with the 2500 over his old F350. The 2500 has less sways and less bounce towing the exact same trailer making it feel more stable.
