I'm curious how it does pulling a mountain pass with a load.

What would you like to know? I towed my 5er over the Canadian Rockies with mine.

It's 37.5' and it scaled at right around 12k#. GCW was just under 21,000#.

So IB, what kind of mileage do you get towing?

8-9 mpg. I checked every tank individually (smart phone app) and did the overall average for my last trip. Best tank towing was 9.1 and avg was 8.7 mpg. That included mountain grades, rainstorms, wind, and some flat terrain towing over 1900 miles. Basically a mix of everything.

For comparison, my last truck (5.9L Cummins) got around 10 - 11 mpg pulling the same RV in the same types of conditions. More often 11 than 10.

So I lost 2 mpg across the board - empty and towing. Empty hwy the Hemi will do 16 - 18 where the diesel would do 19 - 21.

That's pretty impressive mileage - I put about 5K a year on my truck now and if I had to replace it, I would seriously consider the big Hemi.

I am a few years away from a new truck but if I was buying tomorrow I would buy IB's truck!

I think I know the answer.....but in case I'm assuming wrong...are your MPG figures as per Canadian gallon (British Imperial) or the smaller (by 20%) U.S. gallon.

I'm assuming your MPG figures you provided are as per, U.S. gallon.

Those were some impressive fuel mileage figures they got for the TCM article.

Mind you, it is probably also due to they way they drive. In other words, accelerate and decelerate slowly. No drag racing from stop lights. :B And other such fuel saving driving habits that I know we all DO NOT HAVE.
