Yes the diesel will pull better, but each has their advantages.
I bought my truck to pull a trailer, not go get groceries or mulch fro the yard. I can see a gasser as an advantage for a grocery hauler or short RV trips with a smaller trailer.

Yes, I used to share that opinion. I've changed my mind somewhat now. This little gasser 2500 has higher gawrs, tow rating, gcwr, and only 100# less gvwr than my previous 3500 diesel. It suits my needs perfectly - might not fit yours.
If I was going to full time like you, diesel is definitely the way to go.
I tow 10 days per year. The other 355 my truck is my daily driver.
