Ram 3500 max tow vs F450

This will be an interesting report to read.

King of Beasts on the Road

"Our two tow testers for this run are a 2013 Ford F-450 Super Duty Platinum edition and 2013 Ram 3500 HD Laramie Longhorn edition, each with the maximum tow packages. We'll be hauling some heavy loads with our specially made Load Max flatbed air suspended gooseneck trailers, each capable of hauling 28,000 pounds."

  • If the F450 came from the factory with that bed, it's not a "real" F450. It's a 350 with stiffer springs. The "real" F450 is a chassis cab with a much heavier frame.

Interesting in that two years ago the Ram didn't have a high enough tow capacity to compete in the King of the Hill, and now they match it up to an F450! If the F450 doesn't win going to be a bad day for Ford!
  • Will be interesting, but would think the bigger F450 would win this handily
