Ram 6.4/4.10 dually vs 2016 Ford 6.2/3.73 dually

Great choice! For your needs that looks like a perfect fit. I think you'll be fine with the 3.73 for that weight. I'm moving an 11,000# 5th wheel with my Ram Hemi 3.73 and it does okay. I can only imagine what it would be like if it had a tranny that shifted and had gear ratios like it should :)

Congratulations on the new truck! As mentioned above, you will really like the way the dually handles your camper. I bought my first dually 11 years ago and have never looked back.

We have a fleet of Ford 6.2L's at the city I work at and they have been bulletproof. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one at all if I wasn't towing as heavy as I am.

Nice truck, did you say thats a leftover 16? My good friend just bought a diesel 350 SRW and LOVES it. Took a ride with him when we were out camping earlier this year and it is a very nice truck. He had a lot of options, heated/cooled seats, dual backup camera with zoom feature, all kinds of electronic goodies... it was a really sweet truck.

I've never owned a 6.2, but I test drove some and they sure seem nice. Hope it works out great for you (I'm sure it will) and you put a LOT of miles on that sucker!!!

Fortunate for me I'm not pulling a 14K 5ver. My camper weight 3500lbs.

I had a 2015 F350 dually 6.2 gasser with 4.30 gears, I'm towing a 14,000 lb 5er. What a mistake. It was woefully under powered when driving on any slight hill grades. It required driving with my foot on the floor board shifting using the manual shifter button. I traded it in for a 2012 F350 6.7 diesel dually which tows my rig with no problem. Go with a diesel if you need to pull any kind of weight.

I'll build a spacer, I actually have to use a 4x4 now to keep from hitting the taillights with the short bed, the Ford short bed is 3 inches longer than a standard short bed. I usually throw leveling boards in-between the camper and the cab.

If I were buying a FORD it would have the gasser in it!
