I really have to wonder about this statement though. Last 4th of July I went camping with a group that included a newer Dodge 2500 with the Cummins. Unfortunately I didn't catch what year and engine, but its rather unimportant.
I was towing my trailer, about 6500 lbs, and he was pulling a 26 foot with slideout that weighed about the same. We all met up near our houses and drove about 150 miles to the park together. I got right around 10 mpg pulling roughly the same weight on the same roads at the same speed. He said he was getting about 11. All things considered... that's the same mileage to me.
