I am at my last day of MayMadness TDR Regional Rally in Pahrump, NV where we had two Chrysler reps and one retired one. The retired one was the western head of warranty repairs for Chrysler. To quote him regarding the Aisin "they don't break". The only failures they see are in the Medium duty trucks where they at times are abused by people that don't give a &#*@ about how they drive them.
BD Diesel performance was at the Rally, To prove that the Aisin does not break the Sales Rep Harold said they don't even offer anything for the Aisin Transmission. They do for all the Allison, Ford and Chrysler transmissions.
I tow 32,500# combined with the Aisin and 4.10's I can start off on a fairly steep grade with just pushing the go pedal with no grunting or groaning it just moves the load!
We had a dyno event on Thursday in LasVegas and the 2500 trucks with 370 hp posted the same HP as the trucks with 385 HP. RWHP was in the low 350 range, that is VERY impressive numbers! So Honestly I don't know if the extra HP and TQ are that much difference. The drivability and dependability of the Aisin is WELL worth the investment!!!
I don't agree with rams marketing arm:
1. Yes aisin's do fail.
2. Some aisin owners have complained for shifting quality (one recently on this sight), but as the marketing arm has stated "they shift like a built transmission".
3. Your not going to measure a 15hp difference at the engine crank on a dyno that measures hp at the rear wheels.
I won't waste my time on the 68 but if I were purchasing a ram it would be with the aisin.
I don't think you have to worry about the 68 or Aisin , you are like many on here, you have plenty to say about something you are never going to own or worry about. You should leave that to who actually owns one. We will see how many miles my 68 will go ,along with your HPFP . I don't think either one of us is going to lose sleep over it.
