- dodge_guyExplorer IIYes the newer ones are smoother on shutdown. but that`s what you get when you have a real diesel under the hood!

Do the new ones shake on shut down?? Not only does the engine rattle when running, but the whole truck shakes when you shut down.
Have you been in a brand new Ram lately?.....I never owned one before because of how loud they were...I've owned a 10, 12 and now the 13 Ram....no they don't shake at all, the engine is very quite, doesn't rattle when driving...just a regular engine sound and when you turn the key off, the engine shuts off....if all of what you stated happened to these new one's, I'd still be driving a Chevy.....
BUT, like you, going by the older one's, I didn't want any part of them, now they are very refined, not only on the inside, but also on the outside.... very quite on the road, when empty or towing, no louder than any other new diesel....no smell, and one of the quietest cabins I've been in quite some time....I love driving this truck - Here's one that's pretty common here:
"Hear the whistle, See the smoke, You've been passed by a Power Stroke!".
Sorry wrong brand...:B - Here's a funny Dodge bumper sticker... Now I got the correct brand. :B

I did drive an 2011 on a test drive while working out of town once crew cab 6 speed, it was very quiet, just didn't remember what happened when I shut it off.
Not likely to replace the 01 too soon as it carries our 05 Copper Canyon, although over the GVWR, it doesn't need help to carry it and only has 268,000 miles. :B - Bigfoot_affairNomad III saw this in the rear window of new Ram;
Ram the daughter
