I had an old F250 that did that. Cleaned up the pan and painted it with good ole Rustoleum gloss black and it went for years that way. The gloss looked fine under there after getting some road grime on it.
If a spiffy aftermarket pan suits your fancy then you gotgta do it. It is whatever makes one happy.
