Ram factory tow prep package

He will probable need a slider hitch with the short bed.

He could install the pucks himself, or just put in a set of rails and use the hitch without the adapter. You don't always need a slider hitch with a short bed, but you need to pay attention.

The trailer has the Reese Revolution pinbox. No slider required.

I have found the pucks for a 3500 but they specify 3500 only. Don't know what the differance is. Mine are just bolted to the frame and I would assume the holes are pre driller in his truck. Just can't locate the pucks for a 2500. I believe the bed is already stamped for the holes, just not drilled out.

The prep kit can be purchased online. It is part# 82213980AB for the 2500 trucks. I got mine from MoparPartsonline.com.

I'm supposed to receive mine tomorrow and will install the kit this weekend. We're picking up our new 5er next Monday.

It would probably be cheaper to buy a B&W Turnoverball gooseneck hitch and Companion 5th wheel unit, than to order the factory gooseneck hitch package from the Dodge dealer, after the fact.

From Moparonlineparts, that kit outlined above is $218.00 I don't think you can buy a B&W setup for that.

Thank you for that info. I will let him know what he needs and where to get it. He was going to install rails but when he saw my tow prep package he was very impressed.

The B&W Turnover Ball and Companion hitch for '14 and newer Ram 2500 is $1300.

There's the biggie in this whole discussion. Your buyer can have the complete setup for for $218 since you're 'giving' him the picture frame adapter and hitch. However, he will most likely need the in-bed wiring kit too which is about $50-$70 depending on OEM or aftermarket.

On my purchase, the seller was going to give me a generic RBW 16K hitch. It was okay, but I still needed to purchase a $380 picture frame adapter. After talking with others, I decided it was a better idea just to get the 5th wheel prep kit and a complete new hitch that used the 4 positions directly.

Actually if I had it to do over I would have eliminated the picture frame. Its not a problem, just unnecessary in this truck. And it uses up precious cargo weight. Adds about 80 pounds to the weight of the hitch.
