Ram HD 1000 lb-ft MPG loop

Just saw this in the article I linked above. It is a game changer!!! Adaptive start, gear skipping, etc.

Okay, I am fine with that. Won't notice that much with a spinning torque converter.

The 8HP in my diesel car shifts out of first in less than a second to where it is not even noticable.

The ZF 8AP info:

The new ZF PowerLine 8-speed automatic transmission for commercial vehicles features a torque range of 400-1000 lb-ft, eight forward and one reverse speed, gear ratios of 4.89-0.64 and a 7.65 overall ratio.

4.89 first gear ZF 8AP vs the 3.75 AS69RC means 4.10s might be to low for the Diff ratio.

Here are some 1st gear comparisons. Even when 3.42s out back, the ZF 8AP would have a lower 1st gear than the Aisin and 4.10s.
So maybe they need some different gears to put this tranny in a pickup. In the article they did not say what gears the RAM had.

That exactly what my brother-in-law and I said yesterday when looking at the new RAM HD work truck he just got while his 2018 F350 is in the shop. We both thought the interior is a great improvement even for a work truck, but the nose did not look good. In my opinion, they should have made the grille separate from the rest of the front so that the chrome above and below the headlights were the same color as the body.

If they did this and slapped an 8 speed behind it, then I might be tempted to trade up. Actually, I am more tempted to just keep my truck now and just buy a new Power Wagon.

Very impressive. I love the interior of that truck but the nose of it will have to grow on me. I think I'll resist going to look at them and keep my trusty 2013! :B
