I took a new Ram Laramie Longhorn Limited for a test drive. I was very impressed. The HD trucks are incredible now so it comes down to little things that separate the manufacturers. When comparing the Ram to my Ford things I like better about the Ram are:Ram has a better exhaust brake.The Ram has an even nicer looking interior than Ford in my opinion.Mega cab - I liked the space behind the rear seat in the Mega CabRide - The Ram is a very nice riding truck especially when you consider its capability.4x4 - I believe when the 4x4 is engaged the Ram turns better than the Ford. The Ford jerks and jumps while turning sharp in 4x4.Ram has projector headlights.Things I like better about the Ford:The Ford is quieter although the Ram is very nice and quiet as well.much prefer the Ford towing mirrorsI like the Ford tailgate step.I find the info screen easier to read and more user friendly on the Ford.The Ford cup holders are easily removed for cleaning.Ford tells you what gear the transmission is in.My initial impression is that the Ford gets better fuel economy but the short distance I drove the Ram was not adequate to really say.The Ram wood grain steering wheel was too slippery. I prefer the leather wrapped wheel of the Ford.

It's to the point that several folks I know are jumping ship from their current brand..even tho some have been loyal to Ford for any many years...or Ram trucks since High School...or even Chevy/GMC loyalists for life! All things being equal...it's becomeing an actual task to pick a new 1 ton or 3/4 ton diesel truck for myself! I was (and I repeat..WAS!) a Ford fan...but the newest products from Ram and Chevy actually are on the top of my "next truck list!" Throw a dart I suppose!

Ive been loyal to Chev. for many years. I got burned more then once. Bought 2001 Dodge cummings and had fuel pump and lift pumps troubles notto mention such an comfortable cab. As a last result I went to Ford. My 2011 is the most comfortable powerful truck I've ever been in. I'll stay with Ford.

With all the things I've done to my truck to make it such a 5er friendly towing beast, I'm way happier with it now than I ever was. I've avoided emission junk like the plague and I will probably never buy an RV that my truck can't handle just so I won't have to buy a new EPA cursed diesel. Craig

I really wanted to buy a Ford. We supported them due to the bailouts and their engineering. In 2010, after we bought our Windjammer, we went looking for a Ford to tow it with. Drove the 150 and the 250. Both were nice trucks, but what bothered me was the lag time on both trucks when you punched it. You could count to 3 before it would pull. Although I was not fond of the way it looked initially, we went and drove a 2010 Tundra. Was so impressed that I bought it. The kids loved the reclining rear seats for when we towed 12+ hour days, and we loved the room overall.

We decided this year to move to a fifth wheel, and started looking at trucks. Ford was again at the top of our list with their in house designed 6.7L. I stopped by and drove a F350 that was very nice. The lack of the Crew Max type cab with the extra space to recline the seat was an issue, but overall the interior just didn't seem to feel right to us. The bed seemed shallow (like me), but the long bed, 6.7L and the tranny were all great. After researching the truck further, I learned about the engine issues. I know that's not indicative of all of the trucks, but there were enough to make me take notice. Like the last time, I walked away thinking that it wasn't the truck for me.

I have never been a Chrysler person. Last year we bought a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. It's been rock solid reliable. As I was driving past the Ram dealer, I decided to stop by as they were the only other "crew max" type cab. I was blown away. It was not what I was expecting at all. My wife and I put our requirements list together - sunroof, mega, Aisin, etc, and found the truck we ended up with. I now have 9k miles - 3k of that towing my 40' Solitude. It's been a great truck. No issues, no complaints, and nothing but praise. I never would have thought I would own two Chrysler products in two years.

I always appreciate the info on this board, and see some familiar "faces" from the cummins board, and my grand designs board. Thanks for the great info.
