Started driving in 66'..in all those years, never owned a Dodge/Ram truck...never wanted one, Was alway's a "Chevy Guy", and still like them...Last 3 Chevy's I had were D/A's, a 2500 and two 3500 Dually's...Bought my first Dodge truck June of 2010 and was REALLY impressed with it, enough so to have purchased a 12', and now the 13' in my sig...I think it's one of the best looking trucks on the road today, inside and out, and for a 1 ton Crew Cab, long bed, 4X4, Dually, it offers a great ride....it's a Longhorn Limited, so it's loaded out and it's my daily driver. I do all my towing and driving in the mountains and this truck does the job very well..Really like it and get quite a few compliments on it...

Congrats to the OP on your new truck, you'll love it:)
Thanks NC but I haven't actually bought anything yet. Just looking. We plan on replacing the 2010 Duramax this winter. I might still have a slight preference overall for the Ford but the Ram is close enough to equal that I could see letting the sale price dictate which way we go. So far Ram is thinking their truck is worth a considerable amount more than Ford but it might just be the difference in the way the two dealerships operate. Ford's first price is $16000 off list were as Ram is only talking 8500 off when asked for a price. List price seams fairly comparable. ($84,000)
Got caught up with another poster, 4X4ord, thought someone had stated they purchased one and I was going from there...Gee, when I purchased my Ram in May, I was given $10,000 off sticker right off the bat, and it was a 13', brand new just hitting the lot, but I got a "history" with my dealer, so that helped, (also had employees discount and a few other incentives)...
Just the opposite in the NC, SC and TN area...Ford thinks their trucks are worth more than I do....I priced a brand new Chevy, new Ford and the Ram back in December first of the year, the most expensive was the Ford F350 Dually, then the Chevy 3500 and the 2012 Ram, (I was comparing a 13' Chevy and Ford to a 12 Ram, so may not have been fair)..though, in this area right now, the Ford is still more expensive than the 13 or 14 Ram, but it just might only be happy with nothing but a Ford, seems like that's what you're leaning towards. I NEVER dreamed I EVER own a Dodge/Ram truck, honest, I was a Chevy guy and priced Fords more than several times in the last 13 yrs and they don't want my money or don't like it...but it's worked out ok for me, so it's all good.......
