Transmission problems? Really? That is not something that I have heard of before. True they are not perfect but haven't heard of many transmission issues on the Tundra forums. Used to hear about air injection pumps but that seems to have gone away. The occasional cam tower leak or water pump leak but next to no transmissions. Maybe your buddy had one but not common from what I can tell.
Surprised me too. A guy at work had the issue, and doesn't know much about cars/trucks. He came to me for advice. Google was where I learned it's not as uncommon as you would think given Toyota's well earned reputation for reliability.

Thanks for the link. I do recall this one now. Mine is a 2009 and I haven't had this issue and don't see it coming up anymore on later model years. Hope I haven't just jinxed myself though.
