we're down to a couple of choices that fit our budget a 4 year old Toyota tundra, big v8, 4wd, all the usual bells and whistles, 40,000 miles, $28000 new (demo) ram 1500, hemi, 6 speed 1500, 4wd...

Reason I ask is I had the Crew Max with the big heavy "Mega Cab" and the payload was 1325 lbs. Regular cab and double cab models where higher.
I didn't pay much attention to which models.
I was just looking at door payload stickers, one after another. I know that one was a Laramie and another was a Tradesman.
All were Crew Cabs.
I went to a lot of dealers and looked at every 1/2 ton 4x4s they had.
I probably looked at over 125 trucks, during my search.
It was very clear that the Rams had the lowest overall payload capacities, with the Tundra a close second.
