Rams new 6.4 HEMI

About a month ago I asked a similar question about experience pulling with the 6.4. No answer, just people going off topic and asking what kind of trailer I'm towing or diesel vs hemi. Who cares, just answer the question. If you don't know, don't answer.

Do you have any idea what "up to" means for can be getting 17.9 MPG? Let me help you. Going downhill at 45 mph with a 30 mph tailwind with less than 1/8 tank or fuel and the only thing in the stripped down base single cab work truck is a 120 lb driver who never touches the go pedal or turns on the A/C and has all windows closed!

How that relates to a "tow vehicle" even Einstein would have reaal problems figuring it out because one of his famous quotes is: "Imagination is more important than knowledge"!

Click tech specs on the page that was linked earlier. A 10/1 compress ratio is not going to do well on 87 octane gas. Chris

Hard to say these days. Mazda has engines running regular with 13/1 ratios.

Can't speak for GM or the earlier Ford's but premium is not required for use, trailer towing or not, for the current Ford 6.2:

"Regular unleaded gasoline with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87 is recommended. Some stations offer fuels posted as Regular with an octane rating below 87, particularly in high altitude areas. Fuels with octane levels below 87 are not recommended."

Not in the manual but apparently the engine will make more horsepower with premium.

Recommend fuel is premium for the 6.4 or that's what it says under the tech section.
