I like the idea. I would have to evaluate the design before deciding. It still needs to be a strong tailgate when lowered in the normal fashion and I question whether it will be.
Barn doors make loading stuff at the rear of the truck easier. No need to reach across, or slide the stuff across, the tailgate. It also makes it easy to step up on the step bumper and then right into the truck bed.
