Wow! 5 pages about a tailgate.
6 pages now & going on 7....Will it ever end?
:p - hone_eagleExplorerInteresting to see how it is marketed ,they may have thought of something that will make our jaws drop.
-"I never would of thought of that!-" - BedlamModeratorMy concern with the tailgate would be the load it could handle due to being in two pieces, overall weight of the gate and ease of removal and installation with that dual hinge design. If the above items were satisfied, I would have to weigh the cost over the convenience.
My 9 year old truck has a brand new tailgate sitting under wraps in the garage because it always carried a full door canopy before carrying the truck camper. Even the mounting hardware is new because I removed it along with the gate.
Maybe I needed a tailgate delete option instead of a fancier gate? - Perrysburg_DodgExplorer

Hell, at $3,500 or more for a tailgate I wonder if they are going to come with a lock of some type. :E
This thing looks more complex and expensive than the Ford gate with a camera and stripper pole and those are $3,400+. 5 grand + maybe? :E
Well if you only damage one side it should be cheaper then a whole gate don't you think? Also what your forgetting is when you replace a tail gate all you buy is the damaged components. All of the other components are transferred from the damaged tailgate. So the number your quoting is a bit high. If your tailgate was so damaged that every component has to be replaced then your whole bed will be getting replaced also.
Again, why are some of you having an issue with the cost of a tailgate but an all aluminum Ford is OK :h . Ford has said that they are going to subsidize the cost of replacement parts so the owners insurance cost should not go up (not that word should).

Just what the heck is wrong with a soccer mom grocery getter feature.
If you don't like it don't buy it simple as that,as if your opinion one way or another will sway anyone anyway.
I bought a used Astro van many years ago,had the dutch door on the rear,at first I thought it was a ridiculous feature, but I ended up liking it.
Why the prejudice about grocery getters? If not for my rv,ing my truck needs could be covered by renting or borrowing, but you know what; I drive a "grocery getter" I like trucks,I have no need for the additional expense and reduced mileage of an HD,I never will get an Rv much heavier than I have now.
For the few times a year I need to haul dirt, stone, mulch, or wood,I hook up the utility traler.
PROUD OWNER AND DRIVER OF A GROCERY GETTER
Well said. I would venture a guess that grocery getters are a major part of the market, so why not appeal to them?
