Ranch hand grill guard?

Well found a good deal on one and looking at it tomorrow evening. Not the full bumper style but the full guard without the bumper.Does anybody have one on there truck? If so are they worth it? My only thought is for animal protection and occasional woods mode. Anyway it's the ranch hand brand for my 09 gmc.
Thanks

Unfortunately around here, animal strikes are NOT THAT RARE. We've hit 8 this year with 6 trucks in our fleet. Lots of money out and time lost. I've thought about one similar to this on my 6.7L, it's not the thought of all the damage, it's where I will be when it happens. Stranded somewhere in the dark with my family is what concerns me most. I agree, some of them are not that nice looking, but a few are. If you take a deer in the grille of any of the Big 3 trucks(past several years) and you damage the intercooler, you have a very large paperweight. Yes, insurance will cover the cost and hopefully no permanent damage is done to the truck, but I'm all for not exposing my family to predicaments like that.

plus with him only having a 2500, it would probably put him over his GVWR.....:R LOL

  • Well the deal fell through, not what it was advertised to be in a certain condition. Thanks to all for replying.
  • I have the full bumper style. Got it due to the extra welded tab on each end that adds extra support to the part of the guard that goes around the headlights.
Is it worth it? Hopefully, peace of mind knowing I "could" still drive home after a deer hit.........
    Haven't hit anything, yet.

  • In the Hill Country of Texas, that's all I saw as the brand of choice on HD work trucks. What with deer all over the place, and brush off-roading, you really need one if you drive a lot to protect your front end. Even the police cruiser cars I noticed in Marble Falls, Texas had them! Lots of deer in the city limits too.
  • We install them on our Farm/Ranch trucks and there very rugged. Also the extra weight on the front actually helps smooth the ride on those wash board gravel roads and dirt roads.

IMO they're one of the best after market bumper/grill protectors on the market.
  • I had one on my 2010 2500 HD Duramax that I just sold. I got it for animal strike protection where I hit a pheasant shortly after I got it so it paid for itself very quickly.
