From my research, this isn't always the case, and sometimes makes no sense. Many times a manufacturer has a 26' trailer with a higher tongue weight than a 30' trailer just by the way that the trailer is configured. And a lot of trailers, I just can't figure out why they have so much tongue weight at all.
If I have two bunks, and two beds I have to make up each night, I can live with it, but again, I can't find one with a low enough tongue weight where it makes sense. Looking at the passport models, a 2650BH has a tongue weight less than 100 lbs less than a 2920BH, while being over 3 foot shorter and 500 lbs overall lighter... And they have a very similar floorplan...
