A quality conventional oil should be okay at 240 degrees, but I would probably rather have a synthetic. Mobil 1 boasts that they work up to 500 degrees. I couldn't easily find temp ratings for other oils.
I'd have to imagine that as technologically advanced as modern engines are, they know when to defuel themselves to stay away from dangerous situations. As long as you maintain factory specs for fluids, those temps shouldn't cause any concerning issues.
I remember when my department started getting 5.7 Hemi engines in our cruisers. Those Hemis would burn HOT. We'd be on a traffic stop and you could feel the heat cranking as you walked passed. I thought it would be a problem, but 11 years later I haven't heard of any premature engine failures in our fleet.
