From my point of view, it's also an issue of having a local dealer that will take care of warranty issues and/or repairs after the warranty has expired. Most RV dealers have pretty busy service/repair departments and may give their "paying" customers preferred treatment when it comes to scheduling warranty service.
So, in my search for a new trailer, I found a Nash trailer (Northwood MFG.) that was very comparable to the Minnie Winnie 2201 DS that we are interested in seeing. Unfortunately...there aren't any Nash dealers in Ohio and the nearest deaer is quite a distance away in the eastern half of Pennsylvania. So, I'm more inclined to purchase a Winnebago product because there's one dealer located 30 minutes away, and another dealer about 2 hours away.
I think it's worth it to try to find a better made RV and pay a few more bucks if you plan on keeping it for the long haul. My Sunline trailer has proven to be an example of that....well built and still in great shape after 10 years. Some of the cheaper made trailers that are on the market make me think that if you buy one, you might as well plan on trading it in after 4-5 years before problems arise. But...in today's market, it seems to be difficult to figure out which products are actually built better.....which brings me back to the need for a good local shop!!
