Hi all,
I currently own a 2012 F150 EB with MaxTow. On the official sticker my F150 has 1911lbs payload.
I started shopping for an F250 (Powerstroke) and almost sign the papers last Friday. I stopped when I looked at the actual payload on the F250. It was only 2050lbs and was very very disappointed. The truck I´m looking at is an XLT, 4x4 with 6ft bed. It has a GVWR of 9900lbs (Canadian here so GVWR as to be 4500kg or under to be consider passenger vehicle but it is the very same truck as a truck with 10000 GVWR).
My question is how come payload is so low? Should I worry about this or just overlook it and buy it anyway? I currently own a very light 5th wheel with low pin weight but was planning on upgrading next year. No way I will consider a F350 because it will be a pain to register here because it will not be consider as a passenger vehicle.
Thanks for your input
Second to last sentence: "NO WAY I WILL CONSIDER A F350 BECAUSE IT WILL BE A PAIN TO REGISTER HERE BECAUSE IT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED AS A PASSENGER VEHICLE"
Repeating it for you before you get 10 more "get the F350" replies :W
LOL! :S
Another page and a half, of those who don't read the entire post!!
If you need to stay under 10,000# I would also suggest a 6.2 gas to get more payload as the diesel is about 500# heaver. I would assume that you are looking for stable tow.
The other option is to do some investigation before buying the cost and issues with registering a truck over 10,000#. Is it a one time hassle, or is it a hassle each time and is it he hassle, or cost?
From what I found yesterday night the hassle of registering an F350 is not as bad as I was thinking because it will be registered under my personal name. The only thing I will need is the official weight of the truck showing it is under 4000kg (8800lbs) so I can avoid registering like a truck.
Coming from an EB that can tow at 1600RPM quietly and comfortably I will not consider a 6.2. I'm not rich but money is not the issue here.
Thanks all
