In 2008 I bought a 66 Chevy truck that did not have a title but had the last registration, which was 2002. Here in Colorado I had to do a VIN search through the DMV to prove the seller was the owner. Then had the State Police verify the vin on the truck matched the paperwork, and final pay a $200 fee for the state's troubles. I had to psychically go to the DMV with copies of the paperwork, they wouldn't give me any info over the phone. Good luck
