LLY and LBZ
Been reading a lot of posts, still trying to figure out the difference's between the two engines. I have an 04 2500 D/M LT with 99,600 miles. Bought the truck when it had only 73,000 miles on it.

The confusing part is GM produced two versions of the LLY 04.5 to 05 were the early versions that some people had overheating problems. The 06 late version LLY was basically a detuned LBZ with none of the overheating problems. The early LLYs had the 5 speed trans and the late LLYs had the 6 speed trans with the +/- on the shifter column.
