Re-pack wheel bearings

My trailer is 5 years old and I've repacked the bearings once (three axles). What I found during the repack is that the axle people did a great job with the copious amounts of grease they used. I may repack sometime in the future...or not.

but aren't those bearings also manufactured in China at factories in Wuxi or Yantai?

I just did mine last year at ten years old, bearings were in great shape. My boat trailer i do yearly but it gets dunked in water, travel trailer... it just rolls along.

Coming up on 2 years on the factory pack and I just had them repacked last week. Had about 10K miles on them and the tech said they looked good and should be good for another 2 years on this repack. I like my service dealer and trust them because they have done an excellent job on other repairs in the past for me. Next repack I might have the Timkins put in.

Hm, that's a idea, replace factory-installed bearing year 1 with high quality bearing and forget all about it in the next 5 to 7 years, lol.

My trailer has less than 500 miles on it and I will be repacking them next week. I don't trust the factory to have done a good job and I will probably be replacing (what I believe are probably Chinese bearings) with Timkin bearings.

My Jayco never had the bearings touched until year 5. The shop told me they were in fine shape and simply re-packed then and re-installed.

Mine are 7 years old next month. Never have touched them until last week. Replaced all bearings, races and seals with Timkins but truthfully the old bearings were fine and had plenty of grease in them. Luck maybe? or do we just over do things?
