I have been working through controlling the entry of rain and wash water to the compartments, since I had several leaking entry points.
Camping World sells an adhesive backed white vinyl gutter that I inverted and use as a small awning over the vent area. It works well for the battery compartments and the propane compartment, but is too small for the generator compartment, if you have the same expanded metal mesh there.
Along with the vinyl "awning", I replaced the door gasket with closed cell adhesive backed weatherstrip. That job may have to be done every couple of years or so because if it deteriorates, the doors WILL leak.
Inside of the compartments, I ran a thick bead of the best silicone sealer that I could find around the inside of the bottom of the door frame where it meets the plastic box portion. That is to keep any water that gets into the compartment, in the compartment, and not leaking further into the camper.
And, as a last line of defense, I put a rolled up rag just inside the door laying on the bottom of the compartment. That way, if water does somehow still get into the box, the rag will be wet and I can wring it out and then check for the cause.
