I've got a Host Cascade, no way you could use it with both slides in, but seriously, its so easy to open and close I don't understand why this would even be an issue. Its honestly more of a pain to pull out the steps every time you want to get in than it is to fuss with the slides.
You can use the cascade with the rear slide in, no problem.
