Since you mentioned the Equal-I-zer brand specifically, I'll share what I do. I do not remove the hitch from the truck after un-hitching, and I do NOT remove the wd bars from the hitch either. I simply push them forward toward the truck bumper where they will stay put forever, or until I move them back to hitch up. I replaced the pins that secure those bars to the hitch with small padlocks. They won't get misplaced unless someone deliberately cuts the locks. It's a great system that way. Combined with an electric tongue jack, there's very little physical labor involved in hitching up.
Don't suppose you have a picture of this with the bars attached. I'd like to see what the rear of your truck looks like with the entire hitch as mentioned.
