All manufactures are differnet, so sometime it is hard to tell what they mean. Here are two examples from trailer I've owned.
Attitude 23LFS - L=Light, FS=Front Sleeping. The trailer was also available with "Gel" exterior walls Which was LFSG.
Sandstorm 286GSLR - G="Gel" sides, S=Slide, and I believe the LR tells where the slide is located, living room.
Your question about
"FBS? It a dinette slide out on the side.. Shouldn't that be SDS???"
I'd say FB is either Front Bed or Front Bath. The S would be for slide. Just because it is FBS does not mean the slide is in the front bed/bath, just that there is a slide in the trailer.
If my quess about my sandstorm is correct the letters after the "S" would tell you where the slide is located. The letters before tell you other things about trailer layout/options.
But then again this is only my guess
