I'm not a Tundra hater, but I'm not impressed either.
My F150 has more payload with options than the max Tundra payload.
I rented a Seqoia (SUV version of a tundra) last year, and the engine isn't the only thing that hasn't changed since 2007. The 2006 GMC SUV I just sold had a more modern interior than the newer Seqoia.
Giving the sequoia the gas meant a lot of engine noise but not much action. 4 passengers and less than 150# of luggage made it seem to struggle to keep highway speed. My F150 gets up to and maintains highway speed effortlessly with the same load.
Reliable? Yeah, I guess. My neighbor had 200k on his sequoia before it started with 1k/month repair bills. Certainly can't complain about 200k miles.
