While the above can be a factor to consider from my finding the to main reasons RV's in general get dumped is due to changes in interest and/or financial conditions. I found lack of health a major reason for loss of interest. The rot usually comes when a TT or any RV gets parked for a few years outside and never used other than to store junk.
Small kids love RV'ing it seems. Teenagers not so much we found.
There is that 55-70 window where interest can be high but a TT can be much more complex to drive for many seniors so they may get parked and used more like a park model. If they do not get a roof built over them then rot may soon start as they are often out of sight out of mind.
While this is just my view I expect most TT's or any RV will leak for about 5 years before there are visual signs. There are no general statement about RV's that is true in all cases but I think most will agree it is safe to assume most used RV's are leaking somewhere and even some new ones.
Buying used TT's nice older TT's can be had from $3K up. If one only getting say $5K into the purchase price and it turns out to be a lemon the loss can be limited to that $5K purchase price. This is one reason it is good to use a RV as is for the first year to see if you bought a piece of heaven or hell. :)
