Another plan: As you can see (somewhat) in this photo of the pax side there is a (aft to fore) a battery box hatch, water heater cover, open space with water fill then the refer covers.

The 'open space' is behind the range. The range is being removed and a stove top going in...that opens the area under the stove to a nice drawer/cabinet. in fact the distance from the waterheater to the side of the refer is 23". So even with a drawer there will be a big area unused. It could be a battery compartment. I had decided to move the aft hatch under the ladder to that side. One problem if it was to become a battery compartment, I would not be able to get them in using that old hatch. So I again found the Beckson makes a hatch that will fit in the space and allow batteries to be placed inside a custom cubby. It will be the HT1515. I am getting them thru Defender Marine as they are having their annual sale march 26 thru 29...prices are VG. The waterfill will move and actually be in a better spot along that area when done.
If I do make it a battery compartment it will only be a waterheater away from each other, not too bad for cable runs.
I have to say that many of these solutions have come about from seeing the uncovered framework and how poorly it is done.
this shows the area where the refer and cabin heater are located just forward of the open space.
