While I was off teaching some young fellows to better mariners Vetus Escape Hatch arrived.
Hatch Data I will drop it off on Monday to Lentz. I had seen some of the smaller hatches in Seattle and figured I would like the big escapr hatch...I DO!!!! I didn't order all the flanges and trim kits until I see how it goes in.
Here are some pics of details. Since this is made for a harsh marine environment the locking slides were a bit tight to operate, so I took them apart and trimed the plastic tips and edges and gave them a good coating of grease...it was an easy job, two screws and the handle is off and apart.
Hatch details: One reason I wanted this style of hatch is the ability to open it from the outside without having to break the hatch. Theses are the outside handles. If the insdie are unlocked you can twist open and in you go.

Inside handles in secured postion along the side and open at the front.

Handles in the open position.

Note the slider to lock...only can be locked in hatch secured position. Side view shows the two stage tabs to secure the hatch in the vent mode...it can be locked in the vent mode as well.

Vent position gap...approx 3/4" and the other position is just over an inch...it all depends on which set of handles is used to prop it open.

You may have noticed there is no struts to hold it open the hinge system does all the work and since there are no struts the hatch can open 200 degrees or lay flat against the TC roof full open position.
These are some stout hinges.

Five across.

I am happy with this unit. I think I will get one of the OceanAir screen and black out systems to trim the inside.
