Rust from salt air. The outward appearance I did not have any rust issues that I would put down to salty conditions. Rust from being rained on yes! I suspect it is because I live in the PNW, Puget Sound region where salt laden air is not common due to our relative humidity being low and other factors, elevation and wind direction. Plus we don't get the salt mist like along the GOM or on the Pacific coast. Plus I am about 250 feet above the sound. Good question I do remember being on the GOM and was happy to have a rain while driving away form the coast that washed her off, cause you could see the salt on the skin.
