I wouldn’t recommend using galvanized pipe anywhere in your water system. The water piping that was installed in my new garage about five years ago is mostly PEX, but each garden hose faucet had a 4” galvanized nipple behind it connecting it to the brass 90* fitting in the wall. The galvanized pipe rusts, and results in a fair amount of nasty brown water when you first open a faucet. The water doesn’t have to sit in the pipe very long to turn brown. Some of these faucets wouldn’t get opened very often, and the water would be nearly black.
I just finished replacing all five of the galvanized nipples with brass to stop that. About $10 each.
