  • And then there was Ford. Talk about "feet dragging".

If you own a 2011 or later Ford F-150 that's equipped with an EcoBoost engine, listen up. The U.S. government has opened up an investigation into F-150s that rely on the EcoBoost V-6 engine for motivation, as some have been reported to lose power while accelerating. In all, the government's investigation covers around 400,000 F-150 models made from 2011 to 2013. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that the problem at hand usually occurs when it's raining or humid out. No accidents or injuries have been reported stemming from this issue but the NHTSA has received 95 reports concerning EcoBoost engine failures. Those who filed reports with the NHTSA said that the problem occurred when accelerating hard, such as when passing someone on the highway. Making matters worse, the NHTSA has outed Ford for advising dealerships on how to fix this issue but not telling the affected owners. If you're unfamiliar with Ford's EcoBoost engine, it relies on turbochargers and advanced fuel injection to achieve torque and power numbers that are closer to engines with a bigger displacement. For those of you keeping track at home, the EcoBoost V-6 engine application used in the F-150 is rated at 365 horsepower, 80 more ponies than the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado's all-new V-6. Ford designed the EcoBoost to achieve similar power to that of a 6.0-liter or bigger engine while still keeping fuel economy figures high. Ford has already been sued by people who have allegedly seen this EcoBoost engine fail firsthand, too. Cases in both Louisiana and Ohio federal court have been heard and claim the EcoBoost engine loses power while accelerating and is therefore defective.

  • Some of the stupid remarks made by member's on this site are laughable at best and rivaled only by those same member's credibility when they start pounding on their little keyboards to try and get whatever little dig in that they can. Of course there are recalls especially on newer models. My buddy's 2014 Powerstroke just got out of the shop for exhaust leaking in the cab, stuff happens its just the way it is.

This is a bit old news here Dshelley, but perhaps if you feel you should due your due diligence to inform people on this forum, perhaps you can start another thread on this topic.

    Thanks again... :B
  • It’s been a big week for recalls at Ford.

    Research

The carmaker has issued four separate recalls in the past several days, totaling almost 600,000 sedans, SUVs, and pickup trucks sold in the U.S. and Canada

    Perhaps another topic, right?
  • Personally, I like it when people do post a heads-up for recalls. However, seems like all these threads get dragged into the mud and turn into a "Brand X builds heaping piles" type thread war. First post was totally benign, just a heads-up, then it just disintegrates from there....

    Carry-on
  • :) Hi, I know that this article was dated 5/8/2015, but hasn't this exact same topic been posted on this forum before? Also did you notice how the Power Stroke was referenced in this article?

My Ford Explorer didn't roll over and kill me because mine had the Goodyear tires on it; You should stop blaming Ford for this one and blame Firestone.

My Lincoln's cruise control didn't catch fire either. Patiently waiting for my Eco-Boost to blow up?????????

Dodge is fixing this concern that could happen to anyone building motor vehicles.
  • Thanks for posting Fish. I don't have a problem with heads up recall threads either. I Do agree that thread has disintegrated post op.

My next truck is likely going to be a Ram Pentastar, but it's great to share info on this stuff.

    Thanks!

    Jeremiah
  • Unless you are a share holder in one of these companies, why get your BP up over brand vs brand? You spend big money on their product.....advertise their product on the roadways all over the country, put up with the recalls on their products and get upset over negative comments about their products.

They should be paying us to drive around advertising their brand!

    Enjoy your day!
