Old Biscuit, as per usual, is 100% on track and correct.
Do NOT try to connect your trailer with adaptors. The lack of the neutral phase in your existing receptacle, precludes the use of adaptors.
If you have a truncated neutral in the wiring on the existing run to the existing 240 V receptacle, it could be used to establish the four terminal 240V receptacle that can be adapted with the dogbone adaptors to connect to your trailer's 30 amp 120V system. It is rare that the wiring would exist like this (truncated neutral) but it does happen occasionally.
It is best to establish the power source to be the required 30 amp single pole 120V service and is not difficult to do.
