Recommend a HTT for a family

Can't go wrong with either a 23b model or a 23ss model. We have the 23b and love it because of the open floorplan. Some people don't like climbing over the U-Dinette to the main bed, but we don't mind it at all and like the layout.

I really like the idea of the outside fold down tent beds on these models. Really frees up alot of room inside the trailers not having the beds to walk around..

These models however may be prone to water leaks as the large bottom that folds out may slightly warp and be a water leak problem. The earlier models had this problems at any rate.

Also it seems there isn't as much discussions on the hybrids on the forums as they used to be...

The only model I really looked at up-close was the ROO's... I imagine they might be somewhat noisy inside from outside on-goings due to the fabric tent material. I know my OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer has this downside but we usually setup back off the trails somewhere and enjoy the day/night outside sounds...

We have 4 kids, age 2 through 11. We camp in a Jayco x23b. I have no experience with other HTT's, but I'd recommend this one. The open floor plan is good for all the kids' foot traffic. We have no water leak issues on our 11-year-old HTT, and as for noise issues, running a space heater, AC, or fan normally drowns out most noise. Your Tundra (assuming it's the bigger 5.7 v8) is plenty capable for towing just about any HTT you might want out there.

do you boondock in yours? if so - can you run the a/c of good size generator? thanks

We just purchased a Roo 23SS. Tons of storage. Hitch weight about 510 lbs loaded. Take a look at it.

The Jayco Jayfeather 23B might fit your needs, one it's best features is the slide out (which our X20E has). But another Jayco model to consider is the X18D, it has 3 fold out beds.

Noise? People always cite this as a concern. We started off tenting and then went to a pup. And if it's that noisy where one camps, one needs to look for a better place to camp.

Stories of water leaks on HTT beds are highly overblown. Yes, they happen. No they are not common. We had our previous HTT for 10 years and never had a leak save a small one on a roof seam that any TT is susceptible to. Our current HTT is soon starting it's 3rd season and has no bed leaks.

I highly recommend the Roo 23ss. I actually ordered the 21DK as it is mostly the wife and I with our teenagers every once in a while...but if I had younger kids I would definitely do the 23ss for the extra seating space.

I liked the larger bathroom and shorter length of the 21DK but it really did come down to a coin flip and the 23ss offers a little bit more IMO.

As far as community feedback just go to the manufacturer-specific forums. If you go to the Forest River forums there is a very active hybrid group. Jayco's hybrid forum is pretty active as well.

Roo/Shamrock 23 footers are nice. 23SS has a big slide. 233S will give the kids their own bunks in the future. 23IKSS has opposing slides. A little smaller and no slides are the 19 and 183.

I suggest any of the 3 bunk hybrids. Our kids love having their own "room"

Roo/Shamrock, Jayco, Palomino, are all good hybrids. Anyone owning one of these will suggest theirs.
The only thing I would suggest is getting a 23 footer and you will be pleased.
