Recommended truck for 2010 Northstar 8.5 Adventurer?

Hi

Newbie here.

We are looking at a 2010 Northstar 8.5 Adventurer and we are finding conflicting numbers on what type of trucks would be able to carry it. It seems that some trucks have a camper rating that is a lot less than the payload rating. What do I need to specifically look for to support this camper?

We are lucky that we haven't bought either the camper or the truck yet. We don't mind getting a larger truck to ensure safety and for insurance purposes (we live in BC, Canada).

Thanks
  • Since your buying a truck new-a one ton is the way to go-not that much more than 150/250. even better get duallys. you can upgrade camper later on. too much truck is usually never a problem.
  • What I am interested in learning, what was your reasoning in wanting to use a F250/2500 for carrying this TC? Was it because you already have one, have one available to purchase or mistaken belief that it would be less costly (not figuring the modifications that come standard on a typical F350/3500)?

It is always interesting to learn what the thought process is for a newbie on this subject.

Also, Welcome to the TC Forum!

  • I had an Arrow 8.5 and carried it on my GM 3500 SRW, nice combination.
  • Thanks, big whitey. I was hoping we could get away with a 3/4 ton but I guess it's better to go big.
