Refrigerator in 2014 Palomino tent trailer is hotwired

We have had many campers in 30 years and I never saw a refrig set up like that. If the sales person knew you were first timers he/she really should have explained it better.
I would bite the bullet and get the Dominic installed and use the other as an outside the camper refer. It beats buying lots of ice.
