Refrigerator on AC

Now for my next issue. My refer in my Coachmen Freedom Express is suddenly loud when running on AC. I put it on LP and it's fine but AC is loud. I pulled the external cover off TT and made a quick video showing how loud it is. Link

I'm no appliance expert but I'm guessing that's not a good sound?

  • Some times you can reach the fan by removing the roof vent. However, depending on how the vent was caulked in the first place, it may be necessary to destroy the vent to remove it.

There are usually 4 screws holding the vent cover in place.
  • Not as simple as I'd hoped. Oh well, it will keep me out of trouble for a couple of hours ;)
  • So, I took a look at my fridge last night and I'm trying to figure out how to pull it out (only way to get at fan). I don't have the model number handy but it the Dometic I see in just about every TT I've looked at. On the back wall of the freezer there are several screw heads, is this how it's held in place? If I pull those I should be able to slide it out?

Seems like that what RVing is all about.

  • Fan noise. Pull it out, clean blades, lube bearing and enjoy silence. Replace if you are not handy.
  • Typical RV refrigerator has no moving parts ... except for fans (which is what your issue sounds like). Some rigs have no fans, others have fans built it, others get added by owners - location varies. If fan is OEM then you should be able to figure out location by looking at mfg diagram ... otherwise follow the sound until you find it.
